Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine melted butter, egg, and warm milk. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Allow the dough to rise in a warm, draft-free spot for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 1/4-inch thick circle. Spread cranberry sauce over the surface, then fold the dough in half and cut it into strips. Twist and arrange in a star shape on a greased baking sheet.
- Cover the shaped star bread loosely with a cloth and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the star bread for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes
Ensure yeast is fresh for the best rise. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days or refrigerate for 4 days if cream cheese is used.
