Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking up large clumps. Drain excess fat, retaining beef juices.
  3. In the same skillet, add sliced onions to the remaining juices and sauté on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes until caramelized and golden brown.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, browned ground beef, caramelized onions, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until well incorporated.
  5. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish and pour the beef and rice mixture into the dish, spreading evenly.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving.
