Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking up large clumps. Drain excess fat, retaining beef juices.
- In the same skillet, add sliced onions to the remaining juices and sauté on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes until caramelized and golden brown.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, browned ground beef, caramelized onions, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until well incorporated.
- Lightly grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish and pour the beef and rice mixture into the dish, spreading evenly.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving.
