Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat a splash of oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and break it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Sauté until fully browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add chopped onions, minced garlic, and diced bell peppers to the skillet. Stir well and allow the vegetables to soften for about 4-5 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle in Cajun or Creole seasoning, stirring to coat the beef and vegetables. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to toast the spices.
  4. Pour in the pre-cooked rice along with the broth, mixing until ingredients are well combined. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, occasionally stirring.
  6. If using beans, fold them into the rice mixture now. Taste and adjust seasoning, then serve.
  7. Scoop onto plates or into bowls and enjoy as is or with cornbread or a fresh salad.
