Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, warm a splash of olive oil and add the ground beef, breaking it apart.
  3. Brown the beef for about 5-7 minutes until no longer pink, stirring frequently. Drain excess fat.
  4. Sprinkle in chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onions are translucent.
  5. Spread the beef mixture in the baking dish, layer sliced potatoes over it, and season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and Parmesan on top, pour broth around the edges, and drizzle milk if using.
  7. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove foil, continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is golden.
  9. Let rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
