Step-by-Step Instructions

  2. Combine frozen peaches with granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, cream of tartar, butter, water, and fresh lemon juice in the prepared dish. Cover with aluminum foil and pre-bake for 20 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugars, baking powder, salt, and ½ tablespoon of cinnamon. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually stir in hot water to form a soft, drop biscuit-like dough.
  5. Carefully dollop the topping over the peach mixture.
  6. Dust the topping with the remaining ½ tablespoon of cinnamon mixed with 3 tablespoons of sugar.
